WWII RAF Binoculars Dated 1942 – Cased
These WW2 RAF binoculars are in good useable condition. They are dated 1942 so will have seen war time service.
The left shoulder is marked with the RAF Reference number, “6E/293” and “A.M.” for Air Ministry, with a Crown above the A.M.
The right shoulder carries the makers name, “Watson-Barker Co Ltd”, with “X6” for 6 times magnification, and the date “1942”. There is a leather neck strap attached to the binoculars.
Focusing is by individual Bakelite eye pieces which move and adjust smoothly as they should. Focusing is good and precise. The eye pieces are excellent with no damage or wear. The lenses are good but aren’t as clear as they were originally and would probably benefit from a clean. The textured black body of the glasses is excellent with no damage or wear. The matt black metal parts of the glasses show some paint loss due to usage but are undamaged; the brass beneath the matt black finish is visible in places.
The brown leather case is in good condition and has an adjustable shoulder strap. The hinged case lid has a single retaining strap and brass buckle.
Indented into the case lid is “Binoculars Prismatic Case No 2 MK I” and “OS 13687 F.LTD”.
