WWII RAF Binoculars – With Leather Case

These WWII RAF “6E/293” binoculars are in superb original condition and in full working order. I believe they were made for the Royal Air Force during, or soon after the end of WWII. The binoculars are in their original leather case.

Both the binoculars and the case are in superb condition. The case has done an excellent job in preserving the binoculars in almost pristine condition.

Marked on the binoculars left arm is “6E/293”, a King’s Crown and “AM” for Air Ministry. There is no makers name or date. Attached to the binoculars is a leather neck strap.

“6E/” is the WWII RAF Stores prefix for “Miscellaneous Instruments”.

The case is complete and totally original. Marked on the case lid is, “BINOCULAR PRISMATIC No 2 CASE MK1” with “OS.13687 F.LTD”.

I believe “F.LTD” is for T. French & Son Ltd London. There is a leather hand carry handle on the case lid. All the brass fittings to the case and shoulder strap are present and in good order.

The binoculars function smoothly and correctly. Focusing is good and the lens’s are clear. Each focusing lens can be individually adjusted for optimal clarity. There is no colomation (double vision). There is no visible damage or wear, beyond very minor paint loss to the black finish in some places.

These binoculars are clearly in the best overall condition of any RAF, or other military, binoculars I have ever encountered.

Buyer to pay for shipping please which will be 5.50 within the UK. I will ship world wide.

My Father Tom Davies was with 454 RAAF Squadron in the second World War among the many thing he did was to be sent to Norway based in Bodo there he was involved in the containment of some German Naval prisoners the prisoner he was assigned to gave him a number of items including these binoculars, an Iron Cross, various mementos. My father passed away last year we are clearing his various items. I  would love to say my dad captured a number of Germans and spin a story but it simply would not be true however there was many war stories and although these do have some emotional value we just do not use binoculars and they would sit in their case until my sons decided to get rid of my items. Good/okay condition there is some dust/dirt the lens possibly need taking apart and cleaning however they work and on cord. The strap for the original case is an old belt. On the left hand side my father put a small name and address sticker which the residue is left on the case the numbering on the right hand side I have tried photographing* says Dienstglas 6×30 153046 then ddx the case is marked and my Father scratched Davies on the base as I understand items would disappear unless you put your name on them. On the case he put a sticker saying Deutsche Kriegs Marine. Different people have made comments to me concerning if they are Kriegs Marine or not I do not know but there seems to be contrasting opinions. On the case buckle there is some marking another similar item said this was a WW2 date stamp but I do not know although there is a 41 in the numbering. There is a range finder in right side eye. In the base of the case the number 427UT Re the value we have seem others case in worse condition for more money some without case cheaper. Their worth what a buyer is prepared to pay for them we are not desperate to sell. However the money we get for them will pay for a nice meal and a hotel for a night he may not have won the war on his own but he was my war hero and we will drink the toast of my father at the time. No returns for this item unless it is not as we have described. In which case postage will be 14.00 allowing for both ways
*Since previously taking pictures I have added new pictures with slightly clearer view of  engraved description
