Vintage 1960’s Charles Frank Mk111 Equatorial Swift Telescope Mount Refurbished. Condition is Seller refurbished.

A very nicely engineered vintage mounting which has been completely stripped down and refurbished. The aluminium castings have been stripped, degreased, treated with Hammerite Special Metals Primer and finished in satin black enamel. The 1″ dia. steel shafts have been dressed to remove marks and lightly polished. New ptfe thrust washers have been fitted and the whole assy. has been greased, re-assembled and adjusted to function smoothly as it would have originally.

Fitted with setting circles and manual slow motion wheel and worm on the R.A. axis and supplied with one counterweight.

This mounting was the one which Frank’s supplied with their 6″ F8 Newtonian and the 3″ F13 Swift refractor – see photos of catalogue pages. It has a nice vintage look and would make a great pairing for an antique 3″ brass refractor, which is what I have used it for.

Please Note: The EQ5 tripod shown, is not included in the sale and is merely to give an idea of scale and possible tripod options.

The mount base has a central bolt fixing, so can be easily adapted to fit most tripods. In my case, I used a plywood ring/spacer, which is included. Ideally, the boss on the base could be turned down in diameter to drop into the recess in the EQ5 top, if preferred. This is a well engineered mount with some nice features e.g. the threaded shafts, which screw into the castings, rather than the usual held in by a grub screw or cross drilled pin. Mount weight is around 9kgs with counterweight.

Payment within 3 days of auction end please. Postage to U,K, address only.
