CharlesFrank F8 6in Newtonian Telescope on motor driven equatorial mount in excellentcondition and working order.This Charles Frankreflecting telescope was manufactured in the 1960s and is the Advanced modelincorporating all the options and accessories. It has an Equatorial Mount with setting circles, geared drives andmotorised polar axis. It comes with aset of Swift eyepices, Barlow lens and star finder scope. The telescope is mounted on a Charles Frankheavy duty cast aluminium pillar stand. Cost in the 1960swas around 750, around the same as a family saloon car or equivalent toaround 15,000 today. It is in excellentworking and cosmetic condition with excellent mirror and mint, boxed lenses.More can be foundabout Charles Frank on the internet but they were a photographic, optical andscientific instrument maker in Glasgow from 1907 to 1974. They had an excellent reputation fordesigning and manufacturing very high quality scientific, optical and navigationalInstruments including Binoculars and Telescopes.The specification pf the telscope, mount and stand is asfollows:

Charles Frank Catalogue The telescopestands at around 5 or 1.5m on the stand, which has adjustable feet. Total weight is about 76lbs or 35kilos anddisassembles reasonably quickly. Thestand also strips down with legs attached by cap head screws so can easily becarried in a car. Everything is ofcourse imperial thread. Most of theparts pack into a small box. Due toweight and difficulty of shipping collection is obviously necessary. However if Im going somewhere near you Imight be able to help with delivery.The telescope hasonly had two owners and has been cared for, stored properly and only usedoccasionally. This is not a project for restoration – it is in full working order and everything works. The worm drives are in excellent condition, the gear assemblies operate as they should, all the threads are fine, the mirror is perfect and the lenses are mint. Increasingly rare in this condition it needs to go to a good home and to somebody who will enjoy using it.
