Superb and very rare. These have been handed down through the family.

A very early pair of high quality Carl Zeiss binoculars, in brass and leather, with unusual curved shoulders.
Please note they have the left hand eyecup missing. Perfect working order otherwise.

Believed to be World War 1 and owned by an officer.

Size : Front to Back 4 1/2 inches.Width 6 1/2 inches when open.
Depth: 2 1/4 inches.Sharp focus is achieved byadjusting each individual brass eyepiece. Left hand eyepiece has the eye cup missing. Both eyepieces focus smoothly although right one is stiff to turn.
The inscription engraved in scriptreads ‘Carl Zeiss, Jena, D.R.P.’ and ‘Feldstecher Vergr.= 12’.These binoculars are in good cosmetic condition for theirage, with age related wear see all pics.Optics are amazingly sharp, outperforming most modern binoculars.
When viewed from the wrong end – optics look clear with perhaps minor dust – which may just be on the outside of the lens surfaces as I have not cleaned he tbinoculars at all.
Leather has only surface marks.
The binoculars would come up beautifully with some TLC. A real talking piece for a collector too !
