After some on-line research I am satisfied that this is a pair of Carl Zeiss Jena Feldstracher vergr 8 binoculars and am grateful to Binocular Cinecollectors.com for the undernoted information which has been tailored for this item.

The name and brand details are in a handwriting font and there is no shield outline which suggests that this model was made around 1902-1903 and is a civilian model. Later models had the modern style of Zeiss logo. The designation DRP indicates Deutsches Reich’s Patent. I cannot locate any serial number on the frame

The body is built from brass and aluminium with a leather covering. The eyepieces are made from ebonite. Lenses can be adjusted individually and the focus adjustment rings are engraved with graduation -5 to +5 dioptre.

The binoculars come with what appears to be their original case which is fitted, inside, with a pocket for the tommy bar for adjusting the binoculars and which is present. The case is lined with red “velvet” and is in very good condition for its age and use.

The binoculars measure 14cm at full width and are 10cm deep with a width of 4.5cm  The case measures 15 x 13 x 6cm. The total weight is 716 grams

I would be happy to try and answer any questions you may have and to provide additional photos if required.

I have included free P&P within the UK in the price but would be willing to send abroad subject to a potential buyer contacting me for a P&P price less a UK postage discount before bidding.
