Antique binoculars circa 1880 by J.H.Steward of the Strand London . These were a well known retailers of quality optical equipment. They had shops in the Strand London. The binoculars are of a ornate design in gilt and chrome with a greek key motif and a leather barrels. They are in good condition considering their age of about 130years (I worked this out by the date that they had a shop at 456 West Strand). The name and addresses are on the eye pieces which although worn can just be made out. There is some pitting to the chrome in places and the leather is worn through at the high point on the barrels. They work ok and focus well. They are a lovely shape.
