OPTOLYTHbinoculars rapidly gained popularity when they arrived on the U.K.market about50 years ago.Hunters,birdwatchersand naturalists took to them enjoying their superb clarity androbust German construction.Thislisting is for an OPTOLYTH 7x 50rubber armoured roof prism binocular. Rare on the second hand market,this model comesfrom the rangelater known as the ROYAL withsome modelsstill available today at around 900!! This 7 x 50 version is probably the rarest and lightest of the breed, the 8 x 56 and 9x 63 being slightly `less rare` and considerably heavier!Theseroof prismsproved tobe favouriteswith naturalists and hunters or anybody else requiring a topperforming instrument in poor light conditions. Theydoa great job of grabbing the available light in dawn and duskconditions.TheseOPTOLYTHS have spawned many cheaper copycat designs,some of which are actuallyverygood, but this is the real thing with great performing optics. Thedesign features dual focusing controls, OPTOLYTH`s ownlens coatings (breitbandvergutung) andrubber fold down eyecups for spectacle wearers.This OPTOLYTH isin excellent condition not too far from `mint`condition with great glass and smooth mechanical operation. Thereis no case, but the original OPTOLYTH branded rainguard is present,plus a good leather neckstrap and some non-original but good fittingobjective lens caps. A new microfibre lens cloth is supplied. Defectsare reallyveryfew: somepaint rub & loss fromaround the ocular assemblies;a few other verylight exteriormarks; possibly a fewinternaldust specks.itake great care examining, using and describing the binoculars isell, and always get a second opinion. however, i am not aprofessional and my description is based on my experience and honestassessment; most examples i sell are at least 35 years old and theremay be other defects…….also, please remember, everyone`s eyes aredifferent…..
