ZeissDelactis 8×40 binoculars withreticuleThese are the first of this model that I have dealt with so I did some internet research. This was part of one interesting report: With a 5 mm exit pupil and 70 degree APOV its extremely comfortable to look through with an exceptionally sharp image .. The build quality is superb. I agree with both these comments. Despite their age and obvious cosmetic use, these are a very usable binocular. The image is as stated, exceptionally sharp and clear. Being highly critical, there is a small amount of misting and a few tiny specks of dust, which although not unduly affecting normal vision, if cleaned would improve the clarity even further. There is a very small amount of de-lamination on the very extreme edges of one objective lens but it is very small and completely out of the line of view. The lenses and are otherwise undamaged, clean and collimated. There is a reticule in the right hand ocular that has a long, numbered, horizontal scale, and a vertical scale set to the left. Both oculars focus smoothly. The serial number is 1495886.
