Message from rodwil0 – I have been on ebay since 2004 and have sold many items. Because I am a good seller with a high feedback score, in their wisdom, ebay have insisted that I change my account which is something that I do not wish to do. As a consequence, ebay have restricted my selling as rodwil0 and suggested that I start a new account. So here we are, a new account name but with the same level of service.
Zeiss 7x50H binoculars with Nordsea number
These 7x50H binoculars are the H suffix model (Helligkeit [Brightness]) having the large ocular field lens cemented to the upper prism in the prism cluster. It is quoted that this arrangement provided improved light transfer and looking through them I can appreciate the significant difference this makes. Although there a few dust specks seen when back viewed, the undamaged optics along with their extra large field lenses still provide very good viewing. The lens coatings are still quite good and visible on the objective lenses but not as obvious on the oculars and prisms, although there are no signs of wear so are probably still there. Both oculars focus smoothly. The binoculars have been lightly restored. When received, most of the original paint was missing and the aluminium surface was deteriorating (the effect is still visible on the left hand plate under the paint). They have been lightly re-painted with the inscriptions being preserved as best as possible (the Zeiss inscription being rather distorted with surface corrosion). The inscriptions include the T for coated optics and the O for cold resistant grease. They also have a Nordsea N number on the right hand side. Both eye cup inserts are original but one is quite badly chipped. Unfortunately the bottom washer is missing so there is no serial number. The binoculars come with a leather neck strap which is usable but has some surface cracking so should be used with care.
