This is a pair of 8 x 40 binoculars produced by Yashica in Japan almost certainly in the 1970s. They are high quality binoculars which had an excellent reputation for top of the range optics in their day. They have a 6.5 field of view. Serial number 706226.
The quality of the optics on the binoculars is excellent – some of the best I have seen for binoculars in this price range. The lenses are in excellent condition and the prisms appear perfectly aligned. The central hinge is well damped and the focussing is smooth. Dimensions when fully opened are 17.5 x 14.5 x 5cm and the binoculars weigh 610g.
They are in good cosmetic condition with the normal signs of wear associated with binoculars of this vintage – see photos. They come without a neck strap.
These binoculars come in their original English made case which is in near mint condition.
