A vintage pair of WW1 era German army field artillery binoculars. These are 8×27 binoculars, and remain in good condition andwould I feel please any buyer looking to add to their collection. This is notsomething I usually list so I hope the description and images are adequate.Should you require any further information and/or images, please do nothesitate to contact me.The instrument measures 4″(l) x 6 1/8″ (w) x 2″ (h) and weigh some 564g. Each eye piece can befocused independently. The body shows slight signs of wear with the blackebonite crackle finish to the metal fittings being somewhat smoothed through handling. The black paint finish to the top and bottom prism plates has become rubbed and the base metal (brass) is evident. Themetal body is undamaged being neither dented or holed. The central pivot works smoothly and securely. The left-hand backplate is marked with the makers name, and the right-hand side with the size and magnification, and model number 815.Both eyepieces rotate to allowindividual focussing. The optics produce a sharp focussed image, the objectivelenses (please see photos) appear to be in sound order with no cracks, chips. However, there is some marks/dirt apparent. There is a graticule in the right-hand ocular. The binoculars come in their original black leather case with strap, which remain in good condition. The leather is sound with age and wear apparent with small scuff marks around the main body. All stitching and seams are secure. There are no stamps or makers marks that I can discern. The lid is secured through an elasticated catch.
