*John Henry Barton patented many binocular designs between1897 and 1919, and The Folding Minim, marketed by Negretti and Zambra, was a complexdesign and construction which rendered them unique. Produced from around 1912, they had aspecification of 5.5 x 16 and had the ability to fold flat, and therefore theybecame an incomparable, and highly expensive item. Britain was very short of qualitybinoculars during World War 1, and in June 1915 the War Office purchased 250 Folding Minims from Negretti and Zambra fordistribution on the Western Front. Being perfect in construction, and about thesize of a cigarette case, they were extremely portable. ================================
