High quality 10 inch (254mm) aperture telescope. 1.2 meters in length (1200mm focal length @ F 4.7), sat on a simple and easy to use manual push-too dobsonian mount. Connected to a computer system (intelli system) that guides the user to the desired target making it easy to find those faint and distant targets in the night sky.

This is a real high quality telescope for real astronomers manufactured by a respected astronomical supplier, non of your Argos type rubbish with low quality optics that often advertise high magnifications that are unrealistic.

This is a simple to use telescope that offers a large aperture for anyone wanting to see as much detail as possible with an non-professional set up. Although large it is great for beginners and veterans alike, the main scope detaches from the dobsonian mount to be carried separately. It can fit in a small car along the back seat if you need to travel away from light pollution.

It’s in near perfect condition, it does have one or two small scrapes on the exterior of the scope but these are purely aesthetic, barely noticeable and do not affect the views through the scope in any way. The mirror of the scope is in good condition which is what matters, it does have small water marks from condensation but this is to be expected from general use and does not affect the views.

I have had some memorable views through this scope such as the cloud bands of Jupiter along with its 4 Galilean moons. I was actually lucky enough to watch the transit of one of the moons across the planet which cast its shadow on the surface of Jupiter, a Jovian eclipse, and with this scope i could clearly make that shadow out. I have seen the rings of Saturn and a number of its moons, the ice caps on Mars, fantastic surface detail on the moon, structure in the great Orion nebula, star clusters and distant galaxies, all through this scope.

Having said all this one must be realistic about what you can expect to see through any telescope, if you expect to see something like the sparkling vibrant colour photographs you see on the internet you will be disappointed. Observational astronomy is very different from long exposure astrophotography but easily as rewarding, nothing compares to seeing a celestial object through your own eye and the learning curve of how best to utilize this scope and your observational skills. (hint – sky conditions make a huge difference!) But it pays to manage your expectations non the less.

Circumstance is the reason for this sale, not apathy and i will be sad to see it go.
Overall a great scope in near mint condition.
I will throw in two standard eye pieces; a 25mm wide angle and a 9mm high magnification.
Originally bought for 700. Collection required. I may be negotiable with price within reason. (07920083513)
