PLEASE READ BELOW AS THESE ARE NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH THE OTHER RED STRIPE GRAND PRIX MK1 SET’S ON EBAY.Swift SP Grand Prix 8x40BCF serial No.910637 . This very rare Swift SP Range, Grand Prix model was marketed only in the UK by Swift-Pyser in the 1990s. It is one of the SP & SPWA range of almost identical construction to the famous Swift Audubon HR/5 series of models, little known because of the dominance of the famous Audubon 8.5 x 44 Model which many rate as the best Swift Binocular ever produced. Apart from the Audubon model, I do not think these were marketed in the USA or EU except Britain . Like the Audubon, all have the JB-56 makers mark, Hiyoshi Kogaku Co. Ltd . and are of identical construction and quality. Do not confuse this binocular with the Swift Grand Prix Mk1 of the 1980s with the red stripe. The SP Grand Prix is far superior in every way. This example is in really excellent condition optically and mechanically with no blemishes, haze or dust internally. In fact it looks new. They have an exceptionally sharp, low distortion image and are correctly collimated. They are fully coated with the Swift patented very hard straw coloured optical coatings on all glass – air surfaces and have the brightest image of any fully coated 8 x 40 Ive used. The spec is :- 8 x 40BCF, FoV 7.5 deg, (131M @ 1000m) Fully Coated optics Weight 760 grams.
