TheSWIFT AUDUBON 8.5 x 44 PORROPRISM binocular is a CLASSIC instrument.If you already know about them please skip this paragraph! Primarilyaimed at birdwatchers, they soon became accepted as the bestperforming Japanese binocular, with optical ability right up therewith the likes of zeiss and leica. The Audubon 8.5 x 44 has gonethrough many minor changes over the years, but has always kept to itstrademark extra wide field of view, very tough body, and optics whichdeliver amazingly large bright pin-sharp images. Despite SWIFTlabelling some versionsfeatherweight,audubons are no lightweights, they are a good kilo around your neck!
Herewe havegoodAUDUBON Mark II `BLUESTRIPE` innicecleancondition. This one isfrom1977featuring rubberfold down eyecups for spectacle wearers and theusualtripod mount on the underside of the binocular. Usingthis binocular is a pleasure, itproduces the large bright wide images that an AUDUBON should andall controls work smoothly.Ihave certainly used this one without issue both from indoors and outin the field, but I suspect that collimation is not perfect oftenthe case with older Audubons.
