I bought this scope for my mother to do star watching several years ago now, it had very good reviews and was best in class. However as my mother is in her 80’s she didn’t use it as it was too bulky for her to move in and outside all the time, hence she’s sticking to her binoculars. It comes with a very sturdy tripod, counter weights, a motorised drive, X2 barlow lens and a very useful sky at night book in which it is the featured telescope. Below is the spec:The Sky-Watcher EXPLORER range are standard Newtonian reflectors of excellent quality and versatility, ranging in aperture from a respectable 130mm to an incredible light-gulping 300mm aperture, catering for astronomers of all levels. Whether your interest is Deep-Sky, the Moon and Planets, or a combination of both, the EXPLORER range offers excellent all round Diffraction-Limited performance. Tube material : Aluminium. An excellent choice for anyone wanting an upgrade from a beginner’s scope, to something more advanced that will show celestial objects in greater detail.” BBC Sky At Night MagazineI was most impressed by the views revealed by the scope during testsDespite a phase of nearly 96 percent, the waxing gibbous Moon revealed a seemingly inexhaustible amount of fine detailThe mechanical and optical specification delivered at this price break puts it into an essentially peerless position.
