Here we have an auction for an English manufactured Ross Enbeeco 13 x 60 Observation binocular, serial number 32670, estimated to be the earlier of this joint venture with Newbold and Bulford,. in 1961. Believed when new to be approximately 33, at todays rate equivalent to 750 which buys Zeiss/Swarovski and Leica sets so this Enbeeco is of high level vintage! The massive 60mm objective lens loans this pair to great Astronomy use and, surprisingly, is not essential to need tripod use mainly due to its light weight of 1195g and comfortable balancing. Whilst there are a few marks to the left lens, as shown in the photograghs, this is ably sorted with an internal clean to restore to optical pristine condition. The collimation is spot-on with focusing mechanics both smooth and even . Bodywork is in similar great shape with minimal wear to extreme edges from handling. Original case is firmly stitched though strap has been replaced at some time or shortened.
All in all, a fine example of a classic vintage, from the highly esteemed Ross manufacturer, both highly collectible and deserving of continued use.
