Please read description and view pics before bidding.The pictures form an integral part of the description.This is a very very unusual antique pair of binoculars we found in a house we cleared last week.They need some restoration and are sold as such.The binoculars are made by “Elliot Bros Opticians 449 The Strand London”.Ive been trying to find some info about them,but the nearest I could find was that they could be ww1 british naval binoculars.They are in good working order but quite knocked about and with variouse paint losses.The lenses seem to be grubby but work ok. I don’t know what power they are as they don’t seem to have that marked.The leather covers seem to be coming off and there is a small dent in one eye piece.On one of the larger cylinder,i think the thread is quite worn and it comes off very easily.I think the actual cause of this is because the thread has been screwed in too far. This will need to be remedied. They are approx. 11ins high when closed,15ins when open and 18ins when the lens shades are pulled out.The large lens size is approx. 2ins.There you have it,a very interesting pair of antique binoculars for restoration.Please view the other interesting pair of ww2 german artillary binoculars were listing that came from the same house.
