Nice example of Edwardian Binoculars. Rare pair of French Made IRIS, Paris glasses made for E Lennie McCall, of Edinburgh, Scotland, complete with original black leather case & strap.Iris Paris were among the premium makers of binoculars at the time. E Lennie McCall,were Optcians and specialist makers in their own right of optical equipment in Edinburgh. Dating to around 1910, and in very good Lennie was founded in 1840 by James Lennie who was a member of the Photographic Society of Scotland and the Edinburgh Photographic Society. The firm were listed periodically as opticians, dealer in hardware, jewellers and perfumer.In very good condition, with some cosmetic signs of usage, optics are mainly clear (minor interior spots see photographs)and mildew free, with the focusing mechanism smooth.Engraved with E Lennie McCall Edninburgh to both tubes, also marked IRIS and PARIS to the focusing wheelLength extended 13cm (5 1/8″) x Width 11.5cm (4 1/2″) x Depth 5.3cm (2″) Rare IRIS Paris Binoculars for E.
