Having received instructions to clear a property prior to it being placed on the market, we happily obliged and concluded the work. Part of the instructions stated specifically that everything was to be removed from the house including the whole of the content of the outbuildings and also the garage. This latter, a huge triple affair, housed an enormous amount of already pre-collected items,’ which were mostly boxed and catalogued. They do say every dog has his day……….. this was most definitely mine!
A cursory glance at this pair would leave the looker thinking that they were rather smart and in superb condition for vintage binoculars. However, upon looking closer one discovers that the leather covering on the barrels has shrunk commensurate with damp storage and age over the years. Also the coated metal has had a slight knock here and there. Optically they cannot be faulted but cosmetically they are not all they seem. Simply restoration could remedy all of these tiny faults but for the absolute purists amongst you, the ‘belly achers’ you may say, I have to explain all……….’broke my nail now…..bother!’ The case to the binoculars is decidedly ‘iffy’ but fully operative.
