OPTOLYTHbinocularsrapidly gained popularity when they arrived on the U.K. market about50 years ago. Hunters, birdwatchers and naturalists took to themenjoying their superb clarity and robustGerman construction.
Thislisting is for a lightweightOPTOLYTH ALPIN7x 42rubberarmoured porrprismbinocular. The7 x 42 is probably the rarest version from the ALPIN range, but iswell worth seeking out. This example is in good cosmetic condition,with good rubber fold down eyecups, and has not suffered as manyalpins do with flaking paint and splitting rubber armouring. Ihave enjoyed using this example withno problems at all,but my `second opinion` who has a narrow interpupillary distance(IPD) feels there is a collimation problem. The original soft leathercase andgood leather neckstrap arebothpresent.
Defects:a few very light exterior marks andpaint chips;possibly a few internaldustspecks anda smudge on the r.h. objective lens; some light externalscratcheson both objectives; a reported collimation error at small interpupillary distances.
itake great care examining, using and describing the binoculars andscopes i sell, and always get a second opinion. however, i am not aprofessional and my description is based on my experience and honestassessment; most examples i sell are at least 35 years old and theremay be other defects…….also, please remember, everyone`s eyes aredifferent…..

Aclean 7 x 42 ALPIN which could be improved, as stated, I have usedthis binocular without issue, but it does have defects and has beenpriced taking this into account.Makeme a very very close offer if you prefer.
