VERY OLD/RARE 12″ F3 SCHMIDT TELESCOPE / PLATE CAMERA B.A.S VERY BIG SCOPE
This scope/camera is a very old plate camera which the film plate is inserted into the scope by the two holes with arm bands to keep the light out
It has a 12″ main mirror and 8″ corrector lens on the front
This could very easily be converted by sticking a planetary/ccd camera into the middle where the film plate should be making this into one hell of a big F3camera
The marking on the scope says f3 which i presume is the focal length of the thing and was owned by the B.A.S. at one point
This scope is very heavy as is 54″ x 13″ in measurements
It has been sitting in a observatory not being used for the last 20 years
Some bad points are that the mirror needs a dam good clean or even a re-coating and the lens could also do with a clean
The actual plate holder is missing but no big deal as this is crying out to be converted by an up to the day camera
