Two glasses I obtained some years ago , intending to have them restored by Glasgow Binocular Repairs. Sadly their senior technician passed away around this point and I did not wish to entrust job to others. Now the need for space means I should move them on.
For their age both glasses are in VG cosmetic and mechanical condition. The glass in the eyepieces and objective lenses looks ok . The problem is the common one of prisms, in one the prisms have separated and rattle,in the other they are delaminating and near opaque, but intact as far as I can see.
Glass 1, Sr 60183, 1944 mfg. Almost no view, prisms rattle, filters work and rotate ok. Eyepiece focus rotates smoothly on both eyepieces.
Glass 2, Sr 70795, 1945 mfg. About 15/20% view but dull yellow due to prism delaminating. Both eyepieces rotate ok , left one a little “tighter” than the right.
