Vixen Geoma ED80-A spotting scopewith compact table top tripod and carry case.
Vixen GEOMA ED80-A spotting scope with extra low dispersion lenses. 80mm objective and 20-60x GLH48 zoom eyepiece. I believe this is the Japanese-made predecessor to the similar Opticron spotting scope (Opticron are the UK representatives for Vixen).
Excellent optical quality with virtually no chromatic aberration thanks to the use of ED optical elements. The zoom eyepiece has been fitted with a new rubber eye cup that folds back for use by spectacle-wearers like me (see photos).
Good physical condition with one minor issue: there is some debris visible on the prisms behind the eyepiece (see photo). This looks worse than it actually is, because it is not in a focal plane so it doesn’t affect the viewed image at all. The scope has been used for several months without any indication that the debris was there – I only found it when I was cleaning the scope to photograph it.
The reason for selling it is that it has been replaced with a 100mm model for better low light performance.
Grab a bargain! Comes with a free tabletop tripod.
Sale of this item helps support the RNLI Lifeboats and Lifeguards service, which costs almost 450,000 a day to operate and is entirely dependent upon public donations and legacies.
