Carl Zeiss Jena DDR Jenoptem 8x30w multi-coated binoculars serial number 4905700 (1979.) . This is a pair of genuine East German Zeiss binoculars, bearing the correct 7-digit serial number and clearly marked “DDR”. They feature Zeiss’ revoluntionary world-beating T3M multi-coated optics for maximum light transmission and optimal viewing even in difficult conditions. The binoculars are in full working order with no faults or damage optically, crystal-clear internally and nicely collimated – i.e. no double image. They have been used regularly over the years but also well cared for. So the paint is flat and the bakelite eyecups have lost their shine. And the optical coatings on the eyepiece lenses have started to wear off due to cleaning and also due to the salt in human tears, something quite common in older binoculars which have been in regular use. But this does not at affect viewing clarity, in fact they would still work perfecly well with no optical coatings at all. They focus very smoothly producing a bright, pin-sharp image, Carl Zeiss optical excellence at its finest. So these are still very fine classic binoculars ready to give many more year of enjoyable service. They come with their original solid leather red velvet lined case, also in very good, clean condition, with shoulder strap and black leather binocular lanyard.
