Last item from my “too many binoculars” clear out
CARL ZEISS JENA BINOCULARS – JENOPTEM 8 x 30 made in DDR
Full working order but listed for parts not working due to small amount of internal damage.
One prism has a very small chip in the outside edge which is impossible to photograph. This can only be seen when looking (backwards) through the objective end and does not show in normal use (see photos 11/12 taken through the actual binoculars).
These binoculars are not perfect but are working well, all the adjustments are smooth and positive, they are correctly aligned. There is some internal dust/dirt and what looks like a small smudge on one objective. However, this cannot be seen when viewing, despite these faults they still give superb views and perform better than many modern optics.
Made in the DDR wide views, later multicoatings.
