Busch “Ultralux” 8×24 binoculars with case serial number 169395. A charming small binocular from Emil Busch AG, Rathenow, Germany. This is the second Ultralux type, made from about 1920. Very compact at just 9 cms long, 15 cms wide and 4.5 cms high and weighing 500 gms. This particular example is in nice original condition with the usual light wear to the paint to be expected for a binocular of this age and all the leather covering is present and in good order. All lenses and prisms are undamaged without any chips, scratches or cracks. Both centre focussing and right diopter adjustments work freely as does the central bridge. And the glasses are nicely collimated, no double image.There is some dirt in the optics but they still produce a bright, very clear image. They have their original solid leather case in good condition, together with its strap and the binoculars’ original black leather lanyard. A fine classic binocular from a great German marque.
