Busch”Marluxon” 7 x 50 German WW2 Military Binoculars withReticle. Made by one of Germany’s great optical marques, Emil BuschAG, Rathenow, a major supplier of precision optics to Germany’s armedforces through two world wars. These particular glasses bear Finnishmilitary markings in the form of large white letters around theobjective lenses “IT-JOUKOT” (“AIR FORCES”).Following Finland’s legendary defeat of the Red Army in the 1939Winter War, from 1941-44, the country entered into a militaryalliance with Germany against the Soviet Union which included thesupply of arms and military equipment, these binoculars being onesuch item.Theexcellent factory sealing against dust and water ingress seems tohave lasted very well (I doubt that they have ever been opened) sothe overall condition is very good and optical performance excellent.There is no haze that I can see but there are white patches on theprisms and lenses which are the early stages of fungal growth. Butthis has no noticeable effect on normal viewing and should not getany worse if the binoculars are stored properly. Individual eyefocusing in very smooth and the range-finding reticle clearlyvisible in the right optics. Collimation is perfect and they producea bright, pin-sharp image to the usual high military standard. Allprisms are undamaged and lenses free from chips or cracks. Bothobjective lenses are have no separation, cracks or deepscratches. Eyepiece lenses do show the normal light surface scratchesfound on old military glasses but no chips or cracks. Cosmeticcondition shows the normal wear typical of field use. Most of thetextured black paint is still present and all markings perfectlyclear on the prism plates, the rest of the paint worn on high spots.Thereis no case but I have fitted a brand new black leather lanyard,similar to the original. A very sound pair of German WW2 binocularswith an interesting history.Thebinoculars will be carefully packed in a well padded box for dispatchand sent fully insured.
