I am regrettably selling my Altair Astro (re-branded GSO) 8″ Newtonian reflector telescope & Sky-Watcher HEQ5 Pro SynScan mount.
Unfortunately, my current work commitments & financial situation no longer permits such a hobby!
The scope and mount are in full working order and good condition. There are some slightly rusty bolts on the mount, as even under the Gizmodo 365 cover, the UK climate will always provide some moisture, however, nothing that affects performance. I have recently tidied and cleaned the entire setup, ready for selling:
Primary mirror has been carefully cleaned (mirror has no scratches, but it was a bit dusty)Secondary mirrorScope OD (re-sprayed)Generally clean downThe mount is a motorized Go-To mount with Synscan hand controller (I have misplaced the hand-controller holder, as I used EQMOD to drive the scope, but these are easy to pick up online for a few ‘s). I have made a couple of mods to the mount, such as replacing the latitude adjustment bolts (pictured) and polar scope grub screws (pictured). The scope is an Altair Astro 8″ Newtonian reflector – basically a re-branded GSO (Guan Sheng Optical) with mirror-cooling fan.
The scope has an Altair Astro 2″ focuser with a 2″ to 1.25″ self-centering adapter fitted, as well as an Altair Astro illuminated RACI finder scope. I’m also selling it with a Celestron 17ah PowerTank, eyepieces & more. Further details below…
