This is a really good 3 draw antique telescope made by Ross of London and marked with a serial number 53320. It is also inscribed with two names, one of which is Colonel Cossart R.F.A. who was a serving officer in the Royal Field Artillery in WWI. The other name is W H Brown and both engravings seem to be done by the same engraver but I have no idea of the significance of the second name. The telescope is made from aluminium and is very light at 640 grams and, with its large object lens having a visible lens diameter of 2.25 inches and very good depth of field this telescope is a very practical one for stalking and other outdoor pursuits.  It is in splendid condition with no damage to the lenses at all and only very light touches to the tubes shown clearly in close-up pictures. It measures 10.75 inches long when closed and opens to a maximum length of 32.75 inches including the sunshield. The surface of the sunshield is a little more worn than the rest which is really good. The power is substantial – I would guess around 30 x magnification at least and the closest focus is around 15 yards.  The eye lens has a built-in rotating guard to protect the lens. 

I have relisted this item as I had previously given incorrect dimensions of the object lens – the figure above is now correct. I apologise to all bidders.

Guarantee

You may return the item for any reason at your own expense within 14 days from receipt for a full refund of the purchase price.
