Untitled Document Victorian Aitchison London Signalling Telescope No 6873, Antique.
A finequality, English, Antique signalling telescope made by Aitchison of London circa 1895-1900. The telescopeis
made from brass with three draw tubes all retaining the fine originalpatina, with no dings or dents. The main body
is covered in quality leatherwith sound stitching. The third tube is clearly stamped Aitchison LondonSignalling
Telescope No 6873. The telescope is complete with the two original leatherend caps. The leather has a small initials
inscription to the side that reads LTwith initials and R.N, so it appears this telescope was once owned by a Lieutenant
in the Royal Navy. The eyepiece end has a brass slide that protects the glass.The optical quality is fantastic, crystal clear
& very sharp, no mould or scratchingto the glass. It measures fully extended: 78 cm (30), and fully closed
withend caps 27 cm (10).
