ZeissD.F. 6x P.No. 6211 binocularsThese early D.F.6x binoculars were received heavily covered all over in thick black paint. Although the prism cover plates were acceptable with inscriptions still visible, the rest of the paint was thickly and crudely applied including on the leather. This paint has been removed from everywhere except the top plates. The metal has been repainted and the leather cleaned and treated. The leather has also been removed to clean away thick white corrosive powder from the underlying aluminium and has been re-glued. The lenses and prisms have been cleaned and the oculars re-greased. The viewing is now very good and collimated. The eye cups are replacements. The neck strap is original and in good condition but should not be relied upon.The top plates are inscribed Carl Zeiss Jena DRP on the left and D.F. 6x P.No 6211 on the right. The serial number on the hinge is 10627.For the self appointed forum critics hiding behind aliases such as Molehunter, who complain about restorations, the last photo shows the extent of corrosion under the leather covering that would have eventually destroyed these binoculars had they have been left untouched as these critics advocate. This level of corrosion and other post war damage cannot be regarded and valued as normal wartime wear.
