When I first saw this case some years ago it contained a pair of heavy brass 7×50 Zeiss binoculars, reworked by Zeiss and fitted with coated lenses. One of the brass prism cover plates had been replaced with an aluminium plate with the Kriegsmarine eagle.I believe therefore that both the case and glasses perhaps date from WW1 but saw service aging in WW11. This auction is for the Case only, the glasses were sold separately.Case body is in good condition with a paint or varnish having been applied at some time. A brass plate to the front is stamped D.F. 7×50 Zeiss. Each side has a swivel mount for the neck strap one with the fitting for the neck strap. The sprung closure strap is missing. Rear belt loops are in place. Internal blocks are present as is the neck strap but this broken.
