Above the right-hand eyecap in red print, which the camera would not pick up, it says “Lightweight”
but that relates to its vintage days.They weigh 1Kg which is quite heavy by today’s standards.
Despite their age,they have had little use,and there is no sign of wear in the original fitted lanyard
or the shoulder strap on the case,and the fixing clasp is still bright and shiny.The plastic hinge is
still fully functional but is beginning to split.
My back garden is 100 ft long and backs on to another of similar length,where there is a house
overlooking mine.Looking across to there I see a bathroom window,with a row of bottles on the
window ledge,and I can actually read some of the print upon them.It is quite stunning. Midway
between the houses there is a tree about 60 ft tall,and when birds sit on the top I can see
their colours and details in fine definition…..Sorry to see it go,but due to old age I do not get
around much any more.
