These lovely vintage Swift Saratoga binoculars are one of the best Japanese 8×40’s of the late 1960’s. Mainly made of metal, they have a fairly wide angle, plus they are sharp and not too heavy to carry.
The binoculars come with come with a worn, but often lost original case (see photo). This well-loved pair have been used to watch horse racing for many decades and come with a range of UK racing VIP enclosures and club badges from the 1970’s. The race courses featured on these badges include Ascot, Cheltenham, Chepstow, Newton Abbot, Royal Windsor, Wincanton and Worcester (see photos).
These binoculars are in good condition with patches of wear on the top/edges and underneath where the fingers and thumbs would usually rest (see photos).
Even though the lenses have some minor dust, they work fine and the magnification and clarity of vision is very good. There are no lens cracks.
A lovely item/gift for functional use, or for a vintage prop display.
