Vintage 1960s Japanese SOLUS TELESCOPE
Formerly used by a planetarium in North London (I think to demonstrate how telescopes work, rather than for looking at space – they are not made for astronomical gazing and are more suited to using in similar fashion to binoculars, particularly from a fixed point of view), I bought a few telescopes in a sale back in the 1980s. I’ve since updated, so am offering this excellent telescope for sale.
The aperture is from 20-90 x 60mm.
A set described as 20-90 x 60mm are variable zoom. The zoom is peformed simply by turning part of the telescope. A second movable part allows you to focus.The 60mm relates to the size of the lens.
Measures approx. 56cm in length.
Comes with the original lens cap, original metal stand (which the telescope screws onto) and in the original box.
There is some exterior wear – there is some old tape on the body, which formerly had ‘return me to the rack’ written on it, but which has now faded. These pieces of tape are there to give instructions, not because there are any flaws!
There are some small scuffs on the outside and the telescope could do with a clean (a simple job which doesn’t require any disassembly!), but the lens are all pristine and this is a great little piece of kit.
