The Trinovid from the mid 1960s was an industrial design icon and made history because of its good optical performance in such a small size and lightweight body  The shape of the binocular body required the use of a particularly shaped prism assembly, called Uppendahl after its inventor. The name LEITZ was dropped in favour of LEICA when they moved to the cheaper roofprisms. This pair of binoculars use the original Uppendahl prism assembly system identified by the black Leitz logo.

This pair of vintage binoculars bear the name Leitz and were made in West Germany. They were later sold under the Leica brand nameThe original invoice for the purchase of these binoculars dates them back to 1976The binoculars show the normal signs of wear to the lens surrounds due to usage as seen in the photographs. These binoculars are in excellent condition. The suffix ‘B’ indicates that these binoculars can also be used by spectacle wearers achieved by folding back the rubber eye cups. The optics are excellent and the binoculars are mechanically perfect.
