This was bought as an extremely modern and luxurious gift for my husband when he was a child in the 1960s. He knows nothing of the tech specs but simply says, “It certainly works”. I’m seeing it as a collectible or a wonderful near antique stage prop, and probably very recognisable to antique boys’ toy buffs. It’s therefore on sale as is, as it looks, with no guarantee that it has any real quality to it in terms of how far into the stars it can actually probe.
It’s not in the best of conditions externally as there is quite some scuffing, see pics. The big bolt for holding it in a stiff position on its tripod is also not functioning, though could be oiled or clamped and forced into action.
This has been stored for several decades in smoke free homes, and not used essentially since the 1960s.
We ship using Hermes signed for and recycled packaging. Hermes should take 2-3 working days to reach you after collection from here, but collection from here can only happen the day after you pay, and if you pay before 7pm, as that’s when we make the order. An apology about shipping fees. We recognise that whilst we ship at absolute cost, it does feel expensive to buyers. That’s because (a) during Covid we rely on collection from our door rather than going out to shops and Post Offices, to keep everyone safe; and (b) eBay deducts 10% from any postage charged just as a profit to itself. So it does look 10% higher than it costs and it’s not cheap. Please be aware of this as otherwise sellers who ship at cost can get negative feedback when they are not actually profiting from shipping fees. One way round it is to take advantage of combined shipping where you can. Double the items often = half the shipping!
