I’ve had this some years and used it primarily for looking at the moon and nearer planets. It’s been a good starter scope but I wouldn’t rate it as anything more. It is much better used with coated glass eyepieces (as standard the three supplied ones are plastic lensed) – available on the web for 20 or so upwards. I have these but they are staying with me as I’ve just got a much more advanced model for Xmas – hence this sale.
Now the BAD bit – when I dismantled this scope to put into it’s case, I found that two of the cast lugs (Mazac? – or ‘monkey metal’) – circled in one of the pics – had cracked and just fell apart as the screws were taken out. Answer is to make a new head out of wood or metal or to adapt a photo tripod, although a replacement part may be available.
Free Collection or I may deliver for a small fee within 20 miles of SO31. No time wasters though please. Due to the size and shape of the case packing would be somewhat difficult but I will send via Hermes if necessary – cost 9.99 approx.
