SWIFTbinoculars were the top Japanese made brand in the U.K. in the 1960`s& 70`s. Selling in top department stores, independentphotographic shops and opticians, they were available on most highstreets. Their advertising & packaging made a proudboast: world`sfinest binoculars;the great german manufacturers wouldn`t have agreed, but have nodoubt, SWIFT`s top range binoculars were excellent in optical qualityand value for money no wonder they sold so well. So, what abouttoday? Interest in 60`s & 70`s VINTAGE RETRO style is everywhere, these swift top models ooze with it but are still so usable especially if like me, you like binoculars that look like binocularsshould! On sale here, is another example of the Mark II SWIFT SARATOGA dating from 1974 – I currently have a very nice one for sale as well. The Mark II SARATOGA was a big seller – largely because it offered a viewing experience close to that of the more expensive AUDUBON, and, (although larger than the original SARATOGA) its more compact size and lower weight gave handling benefits for some folk. This binocular has definitely been well used but is still clean to handle and use without too many issues – please read the defects section below and study the photos. Non original lens caps are supplied as well as a new microfiber lens cloth, the original case is still decent and is complete with all its straps  plus the neckstrap. Viewing is as expected, large bright and sharp images – great performance for the money! defects:I have used this binocular for several hours in the field without problems, but I suspect that collimation is not perfect – probably the result of a service at some stage; there are marks, paint chips and loss around the exterior including a dent in the R.H objective lens trim ring; there is small scratch on the edge of the L.H. objective lens;  internally there are some tiny dust specks and old cleaning marks but no real nasties! – basically very clear!itake great care examining, using and describing the binoculars isell, and always get a second opinion. however, i am not aprofessional and my description is based on my experience and honestassessment; most examples i sell are at least 35 years old and theremay be other defects…….also, please remember, everyone`s eyes aredifferent….. SPECIFICATION: SWIFTSARATOGA MARK II 8 x 40 extra wide field binoculars; made in Japan; fully coated; serialnumbers: JB56 741911; field of view 488 feet at 1000yards; weight 977 grams; 1422 grams including case and accessories..Thesebinoculars will be thoroughly double wrapped & packed for thepurchaser and will be sent using a tracked service within the U.K.Carriage prices quoted are to mainland U.K. please contact me fora quote if you non-mainland.Iwill also send world wide using E BAY`s GLOBAL SHIPPING SERVICE.Collectionis welcome.Paypalmuch preferred.TheSWIFT SARATOGA Mark Two was a very popular binocular in it`s day and can be a cheap and great retro alternative today – especially if you`rejust after an inexpensive general purpose binocular capable ofdelivering great sharp images. A REALLY CHEAP CORRECTLY DESCRIBED SWIFT SARATOGA FOR SOMEONE! Anyquestions just ask I always respond.
Ihave other good retro binoculars listed take a look I alwayscombine to make shipping costs as sensible as possible.Thankyou
