SOLITEL was I believe, one of many brands distributed by U.K. photographic group PHOTOPIA in the 1960`s & 70`s. Another was SOLIGOR which became well known for s.l.r. lenses and accessories. SOLITEL binoculars are rare, but well worth searching for.
Here we have a SOLITEL 10 x 50 SUPER WIDE ANGLE PRISMATIC BINOCULAR, featuring `double hard coatings`. I have never seen one of these before, but I`m glad to have come across this example. It is a large and quite heavy 10 x 50, which actually handles very well in my opinion. Optically, it performs very well too, very similar to SWIFT`s NEWPORT, and not far off the resolution and brightness of a good CARL ZEISS JENA JENOPTEM. This one has clearly seen plenty of action, but remains complete and clean to handle. It comes with a good leather case and straps which I doubt are the originals, but the binocular fits the case very well. Also all four lens caps are present and a new microfibre lens cloth is supplied.
