Statutory warning:stargazing is highly addictive.Once started you will get deeper and deeper into it. Please think twice before you start.

Do you have this strange habit of staring up at the sky on a cold night when others are happily in bed ? Do you often watch programmes like “sky at night”, “wonders of the universe” or “stargazing live” when others are watching “Eastenders” or the “Strictly…..”? Well you are in luck !

I am selling my Skywatcher Heritage 130P telescope. It has given me many many nights of intense pleasure as well as loads of abuse from my family !

It has been with me for about 2 years and is in very good condition.I have really looked after it and no one has ever handled it except myself.

It has a parabolic mirror of 130 mm diameter = 5.2 inch which is very good at beginner and intermediate level.

It has a focal length of 650mm (F5) making it a quite fast scope. It has a Dobsonian mount and is of the revolutionary flextube design,ie the telescope can be collapsed into itself for storing and portability (please see pic).

It comes with its own 25 mm and 10 mm original lenses with lens cap,dew shield and an instruction manual.

It has a built in carry handle and is approximately 5 kg in weight making it quite portable.

This telescope is a very popular on ebay and it’s price can be checked as around 150 new.

There is a minor thing that I should mention about its red dot finder (the finder scope)- I have always used a rubber band to hold the battery tightly in the slot-please see picture 6,7,8 and 9).This does not affect the performance–in fact it helps in the working of the finder scope, its purely cosmetic–an almost invisible rubber band especially at night,if you use a black rubber band you would not notice at all.It works even without the rubber band but I find that if the telescope is moved, the battery can get loose and the red light in the finder scope can switch off intermittently which can be a pain when you are trying to locate something up in the sky.I guess it is a problem with the design for this model rather than anything of my doing as it has been like this from the day I bought it.

I have also adjusted and  securely glued the red dot finder scope to the telescope permanently,so there is no need to do the hard work of  adjusting it everytime.I have also recently collimated it with my laser collimator.

Reason for selling:I am getting a bigger scope (my first scope was a Celestron 3″ reflector.I sold it on ebay 2 years ago and bought this 5″ reflector.I am now getting a 10 inch” reflector). That is the nature of this hobby–keep spending good money for staring at the sky on a cold night ! Ridiculous !

Because of the fragile nature of the item it is for “collection only” from Scunthorpe. I am unable to send it by post or courier as there is a risk of damage to the delicate mirrors and its alignment.I also do not have the original box and bubble wraps that came with it.So,please collect it,I will do my best to satisfy your best time for collection.Thanx for reading.
