Here’s a perfect Christmas present for the budding Astronomer! I bought this telescope a few years ago for around 250 as an upgrade to my collection of telescopes but unfortunately after assembling it I never actually got a chance to use it due to work & other boring commitments! So I’ve decided to sell on all of my astronomy gear (see my other auctions) hopefully to someone who will get some use out of them. This scope has a 150mm (6 inch) mirror so should be more than capable of viewing planets & stars in detail :)
Unfortunately as i have never used this scope I could not tell you how to work it etc but I will try to answer any questions you may have. Viewing is also very welcome for anyone who wants to pop in.
I’ve tried to find as much stuff as I can to go with the scope & think theres just about everything there to get started & theres endless amounts of kit you can buy & add on later. The kit it actually comes with is as follows:
Telescope 150mm x 1400mm
Very well constructed heavy duty Tripod
VERY heavy well constructed EQ mount
Small motor on EQ mount (I presume this is for slewing but no idea if/how it works etc)
All manual controls
Finder Scope & mounting brackets etc
Adjustable eyepiece holder
Selection of Eyepieces (25mm, 10mm, 4mm)
Tube Cap/Cover
POSTAGE: The EQ mount is quite heavy so if the buyer cannot pick up I will have to try & sort out a courier.
Here is a copy of the Manufacturer’s item description bellow (I think it accurately matches everything I am selling in this auction but please refer to my description or send me a message if anything is unclear)
Happy bidding :-)
Item description:
Seben’s Big Boss 1400-150 reflector telescope is, because of its perfect workmanship and enormous performance data, the unquestioned top telescope of Seben’s astronomy series.
Undreamed of possibilities become true for the ambitious user of Seben’s Big Boss telescope because of its huge 150mm aperture and the tremendous focal length of 1400mm.
Seben’s Big Boss telescope is a catadioptric telescope. The greatest advantage of this design is its compactness that you will especially notice during the transport and the setting up of the telescope. And since the wind hasn’t got such a great target, it won’t be shaken so badly during stormy nights.
Far-away observation targets, which can hardly be seen with average telescopes, are stunningly close with Seben’s Big Boss telescope. Faintest discernable stars: 13.8M! (over 5,650,000 stars visible!!!!)
Enjoy the superior light gathering ability and high resolution of Seben’s Big Boss telescope!
Because of its up-to-date-construction, and in combination with its modern, high performance 1.25 (31.7mm) accessory sockets, you are able to equip Seben’s Big Boss telescope with nearly every accessory available. It is even possible to extend Seben’s Big Boss telescope for the popular pastime of Astrophotography!
The extremely stable, vertically adjustable Tripod enables best observation conditions, especially if you want to shift from celestial to terrestrial viewing or vice versa.
Furthermore we want to accentuate the equatorial mount of the telescope, which enables easy tracking of celestial objects as they move across the night sky. Contrary to a simply two-axis altazimuth mount which can only be moved in altitude, up and down, or azimuth, side to side, as separate motions, an equatorial mount also has a rotational axis parallel to the Earth’s axis of rotation. The equatorial axis (the right ascension) of an equatorial mount is paired with a second perpendicular axis of motion (known as the declination).
Seben’s Big Boss telescope and its tremendous performance will impress you to such a great extent that you will be fascinated by it for the rest of your life!
