A lovely set of miniature binoculars by ABC ( Alfred Baumann, Cassel ). Made in Germany.
The model is Fata Morgana (the name for optical illusion created between the sky and the horizon).
They have twin prisms in each barrel allowing for a long focal length in a short space.
They have a 4x magnification and can be focused by turning the eye piece.
The model number is difficult to discern but it may be 9920 ( not sure about the 1st number ). Please see last photo.
Dating from around 1920 they come in their original, somewhat battered, leather carry case.
They could have been used as opera glasses or even by the military. Who knows?
A lovely and eminently practical and useable little collectable.
