This is a 1971 field model with quartz mirror, serial number F-841.
Mechanically fine. The focuser is smooth. The built in barlow and its flip mechanism work well, as does the camera port/finder switch mechanism.
I haven’t disassembled it but the primary mirror seems good looking down the tube. No signs of fungus or delamination. One light scratch or maybe fibre is evident about 5mm long but it’s proved impossible to capture on camera.
The previous owner was in California so there’s a good chance it’s spent a fair bit of its life in a dry environment.
Included as extras are a 1.25 eyepiece converter so it’s not limited to the Brandon and a T2 camera adapter. The vixen rail isn’t included it was just used to stabilise for the photos.
Overall I consider it to be in good condition considering it will be 50 next January.
The photo of the pigeon was taken this morning (Sony A6500) before boxing up to give a rough idea of what to expect image wise.
