This is a pair of 3 x 13 Teleater binoculars produced by Carl Zeiss Jena between 1907 and 1929. The serial number of these binoculars (126342) suggests an early production date before the start of WW1.
The binoculars are in very good cosmetic condition with just some minor brassing on the edges of the black painted surfaces – see photos. The leather on the prism boxes is complete and in excellent condition.
The quality of the optics on the binoculars is very good. The prisms appear perfectly aligned. The lenses are a little cloudy and would probably benefit from a light clean. The centre focussing is smooth. Dimensions when fully opened are 10 x 6 x 4cm and the binoculars weigh just 192g.
The binoculars come in an unusual thick felt carry case which is clearly vintage, but may not be original.
