Palomar’s Galileo’s Telescope
In 1609 Galileo Galilei made the first telescope. In celebration, Palomar, the Italian optical company asked the Milanese designer Odoardo Fioravanti to re-design the original, respecting its proportions and character but using contemporary materials.
Fioravanti’s re-invention has strong, sturdy, sparing looks. It’s a very well made machine. Three interchangeable lens provide focal lengths from 67x to 100x, great for the relatively close as well as the stars.
size: 1m long tube, extendable pedestal mount gives a height range of 37-57cm.materials: beech tube, spray painted steel casting, optical glass and abs plastic.optical: objective lens 60mm dia; focal length 1000mm; magnification 67x, 80x and 100x. Focusing is by manually turning the lens assembly.
Galileo’s Telescope is safely packed in a polystrene lined, cardboard box. Needs a small amount of assembly using the included allen key.
