Carl Zeiss Jena Binoculars JENOPTEM 8×30 DDR Coated Lenses multi-coated binoculars serial number 6177801. Superb Quality Wide View German Made Binoculars Production stopped in 1991Coated Lenses – helps minimize lens reflections, improve the clarity of vision and protect the lenses The main focus wheel and right diopter adjustment operate smoothly and correctly. Glass elements in both barrels are undamaged – clear, sharp & bright.The views are crystal clear. These binoculars are collimated for prolonged fatigue – free viewing (no double image)The collimation is amazing with no eyestrain.These are a superb pair of binoculars made by Carl Zeiss the world famous German optical manufactures.The red velvet lined brown leather binocular case is also in a very good condition. It shows some marks but nothing serious. Constructed of brass, steel and aluminium, covered with black lacquer and leather. One eyepiece cover is missing.Wide angle of view to aid easy object location.These are a pair of genuine East German binoculars marked “DDR” with the correct 7-digit serial number. The solid virtues of the Jenoptem 8 x 30W have made it the most popular ever Zeiss model and true classic which still impress even to-day. You get true wide-angle panoramic viewing (8.5 deg or 150@1000m) and so easy tracking of moving objects (birds, sports action etc.) The widely-spaced “porro” objectives give an enhanced stereoscopic “3D” effect never found in modern roof- prism designs. The Zeiss DDR T3M multi-coated optics guarantee high contrast and full colour even in failing light.
These belonged to my Great Uncle. I used them for a while for bird watching but was given a lighter pair. The case and binoculars are in good condition for their age, they have a few scuff marks and have spent the last 30 years in a cupboard.Binoculars will be well packed and padded.
