Pair OfAntique Silver Mounted Le Sporting Club Paris Binoculars Birmingham 1900-1901Made in 1900 in Birmingham, England, byHenry Charles Kerly for Le Sporting Club Paris, these incredible sterling silver and brass opera glasses feature amagnificent embossed foliate design with extendable brass eyepieces (in thepictures they are fully extended and fully retracted). The wheel on the centrepole turns to focus the binoculars by retraction. The eyepieces both have theengaving Le Sporting Club Paris and the rear plate has the marking 9 and ERRESThey are in very good condition with somemarks in line with their 120 year old history. There are some scratches on thefront plate separating the two optical lens. The lens are very clear for theirage, with a few small marks. One of the eyepieces brass ring is slightly dented(see pictures) These binoculars have not been cleaned to preserve the patina.Both cases for the lens systems are separately hallmarked.
